How will my special instructions be handled. Is it okay to leave a note?

It's very helpful to leave a note. If there's anything that you do not like during the service, point that out to the technician on the project. In striving to maintain a good relationship with our clients, communication is critical. Please let us know if you want special attention to any area during the work. We welcome your suggestions, compliments, or feedback at any time. We contact our clients before we begin the work and each day and every evening after the work, we ask for feedback. Every client has different wants, needs, and expectations. Our number one priority is to ensure that our services are meeting our customer's needs.

We want to be your full-service company and make the experience with your wood floor repair or installation a good one.

Will I have the same professional throughout the work?

We are a small group of professional floor people and we make every effort to send the same employee back with the group. We also follow-up our work from start to finish to give amazing results. We know how important it is to have someone that you know and trust in your home. We'll make sure to keep one employee as the main technician on the project to answer your questions. Rest assured knowing that your home is protected and cared for and keep you informed of each step of the process, as well as the work. Our teams consist of one to four members. Our working supervisors are always included with the group. The size of the team depends on the size of your project.

How many people will be in my home?

Our teams consist of a working supervisor or a skilled technician working alone, or with one or two professional associates skilled in carpentry, or wood floor sanding and finishing. All of our workforce follow the National Wood Flooring Association guidelines. Our policy is to provide the best results for your wood floor.

How will I know what it will cost to have the work on my wood floors done?

The price will depend on the size of your floor, and the scope of work, any repairs or transition pieces, carpet tack down or repair, additional trim work, the wood species or grade of lumber or cut of lumber and size of board, and type of finish you choose. You can visit our showroom by scheduling an appointment. We can meet you at any time to review all of these choices or meet in your home to recommend the best choice for your lifestyle and to complement your home décor. A written detailed estimate is always provided before the work for discussion on pricing and several options can be listed. We work with you to stay within your budget and will negotiate the price with you. When the final price and scope of work is agreed, a new proposal is typed and sent to you for your review before work is scheduled. If this is accepted, dates for delivery of materials and work to begin are set.

Do I need to be home for the entire project?

No. Our customers do not need to be home the day the work is done. Work will often take several days to complete. We make arrangements with our customers to ensure that our employees have the appropriate access to your home. You may provide us with a key, garage or security code, leave a door unlocked, or hide a key.

If I give you a key how is that protected?

Your key is secured in a locked key storage device, which only the manager has access and given to the supervisor to handle throughout the project and then returned to you after the project by the manager. The key is matched to your project work order on the day your work begins and the supervisor returns the key to the manager each night to be secured in the locked container.

At what time will your professionals be in my home?

Our professionals work from 6:30 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday through Thursday, and Friday and Saturday are flexible with hours set depending on the customers' needs. With the use of prefinished floors and waterborne, durable aluminum oxide finishes, work is usually completed before Friday on an average week. Friday is used as a day for final touch-ups and cleanups, and a final walk-through with the manager. If you have a critical timing issue and would like us to arrive at the same time each day, please let us know; we will do our best to accommodate you. We will make a courtesy call before coming out, or if you would like to call the night before to arrange the time or ask us to call you with our time frame and we can pin down the time each day.

Can I cancel and reschedule once the work is scheduled?

We understand how projects can get out of scheduled time and other crafts working before us or circumstances require schedule changes. We remain always flexible and ready for these possibilities of change by keeping up with your project through the phone.

You can tell us to make changes in schedule any time you see a problem and we can simply reschedule. Sometimes, there may be a day or so delay to restore the schedule to your new time frame because of the other work or arranging for work on Friday and Saturday, but we do work very hard to accommodate you and your time frame. We understand that you need this work completed so that you can get your home in the living order you need it to be. We work very hard to be organized for you throughout the project and to achieve a timely completion and expert results that you will be proud of for many, many years. Wood floors last a lifetime and always add beauty and ease in maintenance to your home. You can count on us to be there for all of your needs.

What if the completion of the work falls on a weekend or a holiday?

If the work scheduled to be completed falls on a holiday that we observe, and work will not be completed before that holiday, we will contact you before this schedule to let you know what condition will be left for you over the holiday and see if this is acceptable with your situation for that holiday.

What days and hours do you work?

Our crews work a 40-hour work week, Monday through Thursday. The work day begins at 6:30 AM and our crews will usually arrive at your home by 7:00 or 7:30 AM and work all day, or to complete that phase of the work that can be done on that day (with the application of finish and drying times involving some days where we will not be in the house all day). Arrangements can be made for Saturday and Sunday work. Our technicians work alternating Fridays, and our manager works every Friday to continue project completion on these days. David Wood Floors, Inc is a local company and the owner/manager manages the day-to-day operations of the business to schedule completions.

How and when do I pay for the work?

Payment is due at the time of service. We accept MasterCard, Visa, Discover, and American Express, and payments by check or cash. If you would like to pay for services using your credit cards, please contact us to make arrangements. If you would like to pay for services using cash or check, please place your payment in an envelope for the technician to pick up, or give it to the manager at the time of the final walk-through when the work is completed. Special orders and wood installations require a 60% down payment when the wood is ordered or delivered; all other projects require a 50% down payment on starting.

Should I tip the service team for a job well done?

Tips are not expected. However, you are welcome to do so if you like. Also, an occasional note of appreciation to the service team when they impress you will mean a lot. Your feedback is important as we pay our staff bonuses based on the client's feedback.

How do I provide feedback on the services you have given me?

Communication is the key to a successful working relationship. Please contact us with your questions, concerns, and suggestions, so we can continue to provide you with exceptional services. We are always available to assist you with your questions to us by phone or email. If you call after working hours, please leave a message. We also maintain an after-hours line at 402-510-8523. Please leave a message and we will get back to you within the next business day.

Are pets a problem? What do I do with them? How do I lock them up?

Most of our customers have pets. Our employees love pets and are happy to have them around, as long as the pets feel the same way! We would like to be introduced to them by you at our first meeting if possible. We can then discuss the best way to handle them during the process of our work.

Most small animals are fine to remain caged in other areas of the home during the work. Ventilation should always be provided for them in the area they are housed, with a window open and a fan moving air during the work and the door shut.

Small cats and dogs should be kept locked in a room away from the work through the entire process, so they will not walk in the wet finish or become injured or get out of the house when we walk in. These areas should be ventilated and the door should remain closed.

Larger dogs should be boarded for the process of the work, or left in an outdoor kennel for their safety.

Small birds should not be in the home during the work. Larger birds should be left in a room well ventilated and warmed to avoid contact with any fumes.

Fish tanks should be moved away from the work area and the systems of air flow off during the finish application so that fumes in the air will not be drawn into the tank. These fumes can kill fish.

Use good judgment to keep loved pets safe through the process of the work.

Wait about two days and continue with the ventilation after work and the confinement to be sure all the fumes are gone and the floor is cured and safe to bring them back out to the living spaces.

Dogs toenails should be clipped and filed. The finishes take about 90 days to fully cure. Finishes should be treated carefully for those 90 days.
